Clothing Room

The clothes in this room represent various eras of dress for women and will not change from spring to fall styles.  All but the Civil War day dress are original pieces.

Notice the oval framed hair picture on the wall.  Pictures like this were done by women of wealth during the Civil War era using the hair that was collected in the round container on the cabinet.  The hair was then wrapped around wire to create such pictures.  All the hair in this particular piece is from Mary Ellen Janey, the daughter of a local druggist.
