Some of Waynesville's past residents can't seem to depart their beloved hometown founded in 1797, perhaps explaining why the Village is named "The most haunted Village in Ohio" in author Chris Woodyard's "Haunted Ohio" books.

Ghost Hunter Classes
Enjoy classroom training from Paravizions, a local professional ghost hunter organization. The class begins at 7:00pm in the Red Brick Meeting House (407 High St., Waynesville, OH 45068). At approximately 9:00pm, the class heads out to Main Street in Waynesville for some actual hunting. Then, the class proceeds to the Museum at the Friends Home for additional hunting (there have been a number of sightings at the Museum). Cookies and hot beverages will be served. The class ends at midnight.
We have upcomming classes scheduled for Friday, June 24, 2016, and Friday, August 26, 2016. The cost is $45 per person. Class size is limited to 30 people. All participants must be 16 years of age or older. Reserve and purchase here.
Monthly Summer Ghost Tours
Tour guides will recount stories that defy explanation, some linked to historically based legends from the area’s unique and fascinating past. All of these sightings and experiences have been described by Main Street residents, shop owners and visitors ~ some even occurring during earlier tours. October Ghost Tours - Main Street and Quaker Hill
In October the Museum at the Friends Home culls the most fascinating and true stories of area lore to delight visitors of all ages during tours of downtown Waynesville and the Quaker Hill area. Each one-hour stroll highlights fascinating, historically based legends from the area's unique past based on first and second hand accounts of experiences that defy explanation. A self-guided tour of the Museum at the Friends Home is included after the tour. Tours start mid-month and occur on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The cost is $12 per adult or child 12 or older, free for children under 12.

Also in October, special ghost-themed dinners are offered at the historic Hammel House Inn in downtown Waynesville that include our Main Street walking tour followed by a self-guided tour of the Museum at the Friends Home. Reservations are required. The Hammel House dinners and tours are generally on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights in October.
