Library

The Burnett Butterworth Library at the Museum is named after a local historian and contains over 700 books from the original lending library of the Miami Monthly Meeting (Quakers).  The books were originally housed in the White Brick Meeting House which is adjacent to the Museum. This is the oldest lending library in the area and many of the fragile books are wrapped in acid-free covers for protection from light and humidity.  The books are accessible to visitors but must be examined in the library only.

The library also houses our genealogy files and books as well as information on historic buildings and organizations.  The library is open to the public but a museum docent must be present during periods of research.  Copies can be made and charged by the page.  Research can be done for out-of-towners for a nominal hourly fee.
