UNDERGROUND RAILROAD
The Waynesville Underground Railroad Committee is building a library of photos of local suspected tunnels and hiding places used to transport and shelter escaped slaves.
Dugout
A cavity found in the Seth Silver Haines house in Waynesville could have harbored an escaped slave from the bounty hunters.
Hiding Place
In the Hawkins cabin at Pioneer Village is a hiding place behind a picture frame and above the fireplace. The picture has been removed from the frame.
Tunnel
A tunnel in the Corwin that may have been used to transport escaped slaves.
