Former President and General Ulysses S. Grant and his wife Julia travelled to Waynesville and dined in elegance on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Museum at the Friends Home. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War, the Museum hosted the honorable guests and treated them to a nine-course dinner, prepared by Museum volunteers, in the Home’s exquisitely decorated dining room.
